Genocide and/or land theft – Hard Problems to Solve

Genocide and land-theft are hard to undo and almost equally as hard to make acceptable to those affected. A diplomat, trying to solve that kind of problem, needs “serious” diplomatic skills.

Currently, some see Iran as a major factor in the Middle East crisis. The results of the “1948 factor” produced two “waring camps”. And Iran has made its feelings known about the “1948 factor”. There were some significant “powers that be” who took sides in the “1948 factor”.

At that time, one of the camps and its neighbors were woefully short of being able to cause serious “pain” to anyone – but that may now be changing. Nuclear progress, whether for “peace or war” or for “peace and war” gets everybody’s attention!

Even the road to the peaceful use of nuclear energy gets everybody’s attention because it may be a short step from the peaceful use of nuclear energy to a WWIII type use of nuclear energy. The Bush team, advocated the use of “Pre-emptive Self-Defense”. What happens if the rest of the world likes the Bush teams “Pre-emptive Self Defense” idea? It is assumed that the Bush team did not mean  to confine that “doctrine” use just for itself – RIGHT?

Who could be the Bush team’s world class diplomat?

Could it be someone who has not displayed significant BIAS. That would narrow the Bush team’s field significantly.

The Secretary of State could possibly be the real diplomat if she did not have to “duck” the anti-diplomatic barbs like WWIII talk from her Bush team members.

Is Ex-President Jimmy Carter biased? Probably – but just try and find examples of that bias in his Middle East successes. Could Ex-President Bill Clinton be biased? Probably – but again, try and find it. Is Ex-President George H.W. Bush biased? Probably – but just try to find examples of that bias.

Will the Bush team be successful in its attempt to bring peace to the Middle East? That would likely be called a LONG SHOT. Perhaps a very, very LONG SHOT.  To solve the “1948 factor” will likely require 90 parts diplomacy to every 10 parts politics. That may not be an easy goal for this Bush team.
